Don Jr. Releases Email Chain about meeting with Russian Lawyer
Donald Trump Jr. sent out a series of tweets for “total transparency” after the New York Times reported his undisclosed meeting with a Russian Lawyer.
“This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr Trump,” the email read as sent by Rob Goldstone, a Moscow resident who had ties to the Trump Organization.
“If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer,” Trump said.
The exchange pointed to the Russian government having damaging information against Hillary Clinton and her dealings with Russia. After all who can forget the Uranium-1 deal in which the Clinton Foundation sold 20 percent of America’s uranium over to the Russian government.
Meanwhile, Sebastian Gorka, deputy to the President and foreign affairs strategist, utterly annihilated CNN New Day anchor Alisyn Camerota on live television. Gorka went on the show to discuss the liberation of Mosul but to no surprise was pressed on the Russia Don jr incident to which Gorka replied there was no wrongdoing and attacked the amount of CNN’s sophist coverage dedicated to the issue of Russia to the likes of Nickelodeon cartoons having better ratings.
The White House has played down the encounter though there are clear Kremlin ties to the meeting in part. Don Jr remarked in 2008 that Russia composes of a disproportionate amount of the Trump Organization’s business dealings. Even a Trump Tower in Moscow had been on the table.
Though this adds to a growing list of individuals connected to the Trump campaign not disclosing information in regards to Russia and providing faulty information in the process, there is still no clear indication of illegal action.
Rob Goldstone’s email to Trump Jr. might only indicate he lied about Veselnitskaya having false information about the DNC and this might has well been a clear setup made by the opposition to frame the Trump team.
“The lawyer had apparently stated she had some information regarding illegal campaign contributions to the DNC which she believed Mr. Trump Jr. might find important,” Goldstone said.
When Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer that requested the meeting, maneuvered to talk about the Magnitsky Act, a 2012 U.S. law that imposed sanctions on Russia for its alleged human rights abuses, Don Jr, with Paul Manafort, left the meeting abruptly. Jared Kushner who was present in the meeting as well did not stay the full duration having left early according to Veselnitskaya’s account.
Trump Jr. made it clear that his father had no knowledge of the meeting ever taking place.
Overall, is there a lack of accountability of those involved in the Trump White House? Possibly.
Is this a big nothingburger? Yes, to use CNN’s phrase.
It is interesting watching the media grapple from one arbitrary topic to the next.
With an inherent focus to impede Donald Trump’s presidency, it has merely resulted in embarrassment and questions surrounding the credibility of the mainstream media.
But the Russia narrative fails to have a clear focus. Though Hillary Clinton’s team and the DNC used foreign governments such as Ukraine and Saudi Arabia in any possible way to assist them in their campaign, a campaign which wasted $1.2 billion, all bets seem to be off when it comes to the Trump White House.
It’s unfortunate the marginal amount of coverage dedicated to ISIS almost being completely driven out of the Middle East, the Caliphate weakening enormously, and leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi being confirmed killed by Syrian insiders.
The media is instead once again going on another circus catastrophe. At least Nick-at-Nite seems to be doing okay.
