Otto Wambier, American Student Detained in North Korea, Has Died.
Otto Warmbier, an American college student who was released by North Korea in a coma last week died Monday at his family’s home in Cincinnati.
Warmbier was a 21-year-old University of Virginia student when he visited North Korea with a tour group in late 2015. When the group was leaving the country in early 2016, Warmbier was detained at the Pyongyang airport and charged with engaging crimes against the state. He reportedly attempted to steal a poster of Kim Jong-un.
North Korean officials stated the young American suffered from botulism after taking a ‘sleeping pill.’ Warmbier returned to his family in a comatose state.
For the last few days, Wambier was less attentive to daily activities and could not fully comprehend conversations.
His grieving father appeared on ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ on Thursday denouncing the North Korean regime as ‘terrorist’.
Warmbier’s death brings to the forefront the brutality of the North Korean regime.
China has taken a tougher approach on North Korea, raising sanctions, after President Trump established better relations with President Xi Jinping.
Without China, North Korea would be on the verge of an economic collapse. The death of Warmbier, who was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor, might raise awareness within the authoritarian state of an isolated government that reigns with evil…unless they are censored from hearing about it.
