Wonder Woman has finally made it to the big screen. This time with the help of Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious) as Wonder Woman. The film is a shining star of Warner Bros, after failing to deliver with Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and most recently Suicide Squad. The last time Warner Bros. delivered a great superhero film was nearly five years ago, with the Dark Knight Rises, the grand finale in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.
‘Wonder Woman’ is easily the best film since Christopher Nolan’s batman trilogy. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film delivers a masterpiece with its epic fight scenes and Gal Gadot’s stunning performance as the female super hero. Chris Pine (Star Trek) creates great chemistry with Gadot. Jenkins has created a film that delivers on what old fans of the heroine have wanted to see for decades. The film comes in at 141 minutes and delivers a film that shows us how great Justice League could be and what to expect in the near future.
When Wonder Woman hits its peaks, it delivers us scenes that are extremely well created and reminds us how great a superhero film could be. Wonder Woman tells us the origin story of Diana, a fighter destined to save mankind from the god of war. The beginning of the film showed us Diana is working at the Louvre and receives a photo from Bruce Wayne.
The most talked about scene features Wonder Woman/Diana storming World War I’s “no man’s land” in German territory and begins to stirring up her allies to save the people who live in the village that the Germans have conquered. Unlike Batman v Superman and Man of Steel, the fighting is personal to Diana. Diana fights to protect the innocent. She first protects a tiny village and then fights to sop the world war.
This film has shown Gal Gadot and Chris Pine are the best superhero duo in history. Wonder Woman faced a delay as the studio wanted to properly tell Wonder Woman’s story and Jenkins and the studio believe Wonder Woman had a complicated origin story and needed time to properly tell the story. Gadot succeeds in giving the character grace and a sense of pride. Wonder Woman succeeded in telling a great story but they fell into the same trap that all previous Warner Bros. films have done, they forced a 20 minute full blown action scene, when it should have been lessened and possibly removed entirely.
Gal Gadot manages to bring to life a character whose story was too difficult to tell only a few years ago and turn Wonder Woman into one of the best super hero movies ever, including the Marvel films. Gal Gadot will appear next in Justice League this November.
