Taya Kyle breaks down during ‘American Sniper’ trial testimony
Widow of former Navy Seal and legendary Sniper Chris Kyle, Taya Kyle was one of the first to testify on Wednesday against Eddie Ray Routh, the man who murdered her husband and another man. Lawyers for Eddie Ray Routh, former Marine Corporal and Iraq war veteran accused of murdering Kyle and his friend plan to argue that he was not guilty by reason of insanity. She called her husband a patriot and loving father who was taken from her as he tried to help a fellow veteran. Kyle held back tears when asked to tell the jury the name of the man she was married to and responded Chris Kyle. The widow grew emotional throughout the opening day of trial as they continued to ask her basic questions.
Prosecutors claimed that the defendant Eddie Ray Routh was high on marijuana and whiskey when he shot Chris Kyle and fellow veteran Chad Littlefield. The defense didn’t argue that Routh didn’t kill the two men but argued he was in a state of psychosis and didn’t realize what he was doing was wrong. During the trial, she was asked about certain photographs of Chris including one with her and one of her children in it. Read More at Examiner.com
