White House continues its “state of emergency” with Iran
Wednesday evening, President Barack Obama renewed a state of emergency against Iran despite recent talks aimed at ending America’s nuclear dispute with Iran’s Islamic government. In 1979, in response to the hostage crisis, US President Jimmy Carter declared a “state of emergency” concerning Iran. Every November since then, US presidents have routinely renewed the declaration that Iran constitutes an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to US national security. Renewing this “state of emergency” allows Obama to impose sanctions and regulate trade with Iran.
US has been in a continuous state of national emergency for 35 years. Obama is continuing the emergency because of relations with Iran has not yet returned to normal. (Read More…)
