President Obama once again emphasized that he would bypass Congress to pursue immigration reform while angering House Republicans who put the blame partly on his actions. Speaker Boehner has said that the House will not take up Immigration this year.

“America cannot wait forever for them to act,” Obama said. He said he’s launching a new effort to “fix as much of our immigration system as I can, on my own, without Congress.”  According to Politico’s Jennifer Epstein, the President will do take two key steps in his new immigration push, a White House official said ahead of the president’s announcement.

First, he will direct Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Attorney General Eric Holder to shift immigration enforcement resources from the interior section of the United States to the border. In addition, Obama is asking administration officials to send him recommendations on other additional actions that he can pursue without the blessing of Congress — suggestions that Obama wants by the end of the summer.

Speaker Boehner released a statement in response to Obama’s announcement saying:

In our conversation last week, I told the president what I have been telling him for months: the American people and their elected officials don’t trust him to enforce the law as written.  Until that changes, it is going to be difficult to make progress on this issue.  The crisis at our southern border reminds us all of the critical importance of fixing our broken immigration system. It is sad and disappointing that – faced with this challenge – President Obama won’t work with us, but is instead intent on going it alone with executive orders that can’t and won’t fix these problems.

The president’s own executive orders have led directly to the humanitarian crisis along the Southern border, giving false hope to children and their families that if they enter the country illegally they will be allowed to stay.  The White House claims it will move to return these children to their families in their home countries, yet additional executive action from this president isn’t going to stem the tide of illegal crossings, it’s only going to make them worse.  As the Supreme Court reminded us this week, under our Constitution there are sharp limits to what the president can accomplish if he ignores the American people and their elected representatives.”

One of my favorite political commentators, Greg Gutfeld on The Five discussed that the true issue is borders not immigration. “This isn’t about immigration, it’s about borders. President Obama wants to take in borders rather than enforce borders. That’s the problem,” Greg Gutfeld said. If President Obama wants to open borders and he wants to retreat from the world stage and he wants to end spy programs, you might as well just hand the suicide vests out at our border because you’re making it incredibly easy for the people that flew into our buildings to just walk in and blow us up.”

I do agree with Mr. Gutfeld; without protecting our borders, we are allowing terrorists just to walk right up to our doorstep. Right now, they are laughing at us, over the fact that they can just waltz right into town. President Obama, the House and Senate must come together, put aside their differences, and put a stop to the invasion of illegals into our country. They snuck in here and do not deserve to be here. By not securing these borders we are just asking for another 9/11.
